SHEFFIELD OAKS SEASON 08/09

Yes Guys. It's that time of year again!  Dust of your boots, clean the mould from your mouth guard, and come on down to training. Be changed at the Club house for 7pm and training will be conducted in Hillsborough Park under lights!!

 

So what's new this year? 

 

Joining Forces!!  This year we are training with Sheffield's newest registered team 'Security Ligers' from Sheffield University.  We are looking to join forces this year and put out a number of sides to play in League 5A, 5C, EDF Junior Vase, Yorkshire Silver Trophy and social fixtures.   So there will be plenty of rugby to go around!

 

Sponsors!!  We have a number of sponsors on board kindly supporting the growth and development of Sheffield Oaks. They include Indigo Cars, Ruskins Bar and Bradfield Brewery.  They are providing a 1st XV set of Jerseys, training tops, cheap drinks, food, and raffle prizes!!  Have a look at their web sites and take advantage of their affiliation. 

 

Socials!!  Some great social events are being drawn up so keep an eye on the Oaks social page run by Wardy.  There will be a mixture of events including a BBQ to kick off the season, a brewery tour, and Christmas Social to get the ball rolling!!

 

RESULTS!! We did OK last year under tough circumstances, coming mid table - winning as many as we lost.  With the new ELV's being implemented this year the word on the street is fitness and defence!! (isn't that two words?)  We are putting an emphasis on fitness early season so we can be ready for the changes and with new coaches  are aiming to finish in the top 4. The committee have worked hard to provide new kit, improved facilities, and great training support. All we need from you is your commitment and enthusiasm.
