Sheffield Oaks 7 - 17 Medicals

 

Man of the Match - Bonzo for securing the ball, recycling the ball, taking the ball forwards then feeding the ball to the backs all before any of the forwards managed to get there!!

D.O.D - Frets pop pass to Tom... er I mean the opposition!!

With high hopes we entered the fray and started with gusto.  The forwards dominating the play.  Unfortunately we were unable to recycle the ball fast enough and some tough defence from the medicals held us at bay long enough for them to regroup and counter attack.  With the wind behind them and going down hll the medicals used the kick to full advantage pinning it into the corner.  Time and time again our grinding attacks were pinned back with some good kicking.  Unfortunately too this broke up our defence too and after some pretty abismal tackeling Medicals put in a try and then another then a penalty to go in 17 - 0 at half time.

 

In the scond half Oaks managed to throw a few moves together after Tom donned his boots and opened up the medicals back line. Though out the second half Oaks pressured Medicals and closed their line a numbers of times but some lack of vision, selfish runs, poor ball handeling and discipline saw us only manage one try despite numerous opportunities.  The days performance wrapped up quite nicely when the ball was knocked on on the try line right on the final whistle.

 

The game was lost not through and amazing performance by the Medicals rather through basic errors and poor organisation on our own behalf.  Lets look forward to a better performance after some ball skills and tackling training on Wednesday!!
