Silver Trophy Ossett v Oaks  36 -3

Man of the Match - Dan for his commitment and solid defence

D.O.D - Goes to Chick for not using the vallies bag and getting it pinched

Thought of the day - Training does make a difference... but so does fitness!!

With a lot of new faces in the team and minimum game time together it was going to be a task to beat Ossett at home.  A lovely day greeted us at Ossett and so to did the warnings about the thieving bastards that live in the surrounding area.  Unfortunately not all heard them and did get some of their stuff nicked...... They did give us a free jug of beer though... after most of us had left.  Cheers

After some hard training earlier in the week  It was nice to see the positive effects on the field.  We were playing well dominating the breakdowns and turning over ball frustrating the opposition.  After some good lead up play Jim put us ahead via a penalty.  The half continued in a similar fashion but gusty winds stopped Jim putting any more penalties over for easy points.  On a number of occasions Oaks thwarted the Ossett attacks on the try line through solid defence and some good clearing kicks.  Unfortunately the opportunities that were presented to us weren't taken and we went into half time 3 - 0 up.

In the second half it started badly with no one marking the kick off and a line out 5 meters from our try line.  After some good defence a determined Ossett got over for a try.  Oaks managed to pull their socks up and get back into the game for a good portion of the second half .  Unfortunately Martin Horton injured his hamstring the back line became a weak point and with Ossett stepping up their game and Oaks fitness lagging Ossett were allowed to run away with the game.

Positives were that Oaks massively stepped up their game after last weeks performance and look to keep on improving in future weeks.  Lets look to improve again at training and take it to next weeks game.
