Harrogate 10 - 23 Sheffield Oaks

M.O.M - Bully for his constant pressure on their scrum half and fly half disrupting their flow.

Golden Moment - Stumpy running at full tilt down the sideline chasing down their winger and actually catching up with him!!

Super Golden Moment - Against all odds when the try was as good as made Tom and Jim chased back in a pincer movement to stop him centimeters short of the line.

D.O.D - Goes to Harrogate for getting us fired up before the game by accusing us of being sh@t !!  That must make Harrogate really sh@t!!

Quote of the Day - Glyn after the game "They didn't buy our raffle tickets last week lads so fook em!!"  Bully in response..... We have already Glynn.... TWICE!!"

Special Mention - Stu, master tactician, when given the choice of Harrogate's first team pitch or a pitch that resembled a paddy field with a dead squirrel in the middle he chose the latter.
Extra Special Mention - Frets, for removing the squirrel.
Chopper Read Lookalike 2007- Adriano Lucchesi

A Warm Welcome - To Lyndon our newest acquisition... may he play on the wing as well in future weeks to come!!

If you were lucky enough to go Harrogate on Saturday you would have been entertained by Sheffield Oaks fifth win on the trot.  In absolutely Baltic wet conditions a great battle was fought out.  After a small bit of controversy we decided to play on the water-logged pitch and things didn't get off to a great start.  Harrogate caught us napping and putting it through the hands threaded through some pretty poor defence and popped on in the corner.  Getting straight back on the horse Oaks attacked and got a penalty and converted it.  Not wanting to make things easy for ourselves we shortly after wards allowed Harrogate to put another one over in similar circumstances.  Fortunately they bounced the conversion off the post.  Oaks started to then to up the work rate and stoped throwing it around so much in the poor conditions and cut down the mistakes.  This allowed for more ball retention and for the forwards to mount an attack.  Unfortunately on a number of occasions the ball was dropped at the last and we went into half time 3 -10 down.

After an unusually productive team talk Oaks went out with renewed vigor attacking the ball and applying a lot more pressure.  This caused Harrogate to start making mistakes and Oaks capitalised with a converted penalty.  Further to this Oaks sorted their line outs and started winning a lot more possession.  After some great driving mauls from the forwards Selly got a deserved try which when converted put us 13 - 10 in front. Due to the ever worsening conditions Oaks started to play 10 man rugby for the last 30 minutes and worked it hard in the forwards. Unfortunately with the backs getting heavily involved in the forwards this opened us up to their back line.  On no less than three occasion Harrogate probed our defence but were stopped shy of the line in some nail biting moments.  On one occasion the ball was knocked dead as three players dived for a try!!  In the end Oaks were the better team when in the last 10 -15 minutes they dominated all over the park and put two more trys on through Bonzo and Bully for an impressive victory!!

Well done!!
